Since buying my truck, I have been pulled over once a month. For stupid things... Last month it was mud flaps. You have to have mud flaps on a truck if it has over a
4" lift. Yesterday I got pulled over, and it went something like this...
Officer- Do you know why I pulled you over?
Me- No.
Officer- You failed to use your signal when changing lanes.
Me- Really?! I thought I did.
Officer- How fast do you think you were going?
Me- 43?
Officer- I need to see your drivers license, registration, and insurance.
I hand it all over, knowing full well that nothing matches on anything. Drivers license says that I am Rachael Omerza living on Billings St. Insurance says that I am Rachael Gillespie living on Exmoor. Registration says that I am Rachael Dunn living on Dragoon.
He goes back to his patrol car for a while to write me up my ticket. He comes back and it goes something like this...
Officer- How do you pronounce your last name?
Me- Which one?
Officer- Which one do you go by?
Me- Well, I would like to go by Gillespie. Those other two were just big mistakes.
Officer- Do you realize that you were in a constuction zone?
Me- Yes. But, there were no workers around.
Officer- Often there are workers here, and we like to keep them safe by not speeding.
Me- Well, that first husband was a construction worker, and I sure would like to run him over!
(He finally smiles.)
Officer- Do me a favor and slow it down. I gave you 3 citations. One for Speeding (7 over!) one for failure to use your signal, and one for having an incorrect address on file at the DMV. (for some reason he had the address on 110th place!!)
So, everything put together, I have to go all the way back out to Maricopa to take care of this ticket. UGHH!

Gracie's Birthday
Gracie had her 8th birthday this last week. Officially January 2nd. She spent the day with her mom. Saturday Dusty brought home and ice cream cake, and we celebrated with Shawn and Summer. She collected a few more pieces of furniture for the doll house that Santa brought, and some pretty hair clips.

Fat Lip
Ahh.. The chin bruise... Well, I decided to take a side route all my own. Never a good idea on my part. Came over a little hill, (more like a bump) and it just dropped off the other side. I didn't gas it, just hit the ground hard and just about went over the handlebars. Instead I squeezed the bike with my legs (to stay on) and got a nasty pipe burn, and hit my chin (under my helmet) on the handle bars.
Dusty turned around after seeing my bike turn the wrong direction and offered to let me drive the Razor. I can't reach the gas, or the break with my little short legs, so I declined. Kicked the bike over, and took off again before the pain of the burn and the swelling of my lip and chin set in all the way.

Sand Dunes
New Years comes around again, and off we go to the Sand Dunes. After MUCH convincing and complaining my dad came and went with us. It was a small group... Dusty, Dad, Me, Shawn, Summer and Dusty's friend Dennis.
The boys brought our thier Remote control trucks to see who could throw the most sand. Dennis switched out Shawns tires to some real big ones.
That's me. Going up the big hill. I didn't know about it at first, but then I was just following dad and he went up it withough thinking about it for one second, so I went too. I liked it. I went up a bunch more times... a few times faster than him!
After letting some air out of the tires Dusty made it up pretty easy. Turns out all you need is flat tires. (They were only flat on the botttom!) Shawn and Summer had a blast riding around with Dusty. He took them on some jumps and out into the big dunes. Those kids spent the day swimming in sand. I don't know how they do it... They just lay right down and make "sand" angels. Crazy kids!
